Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Is Here, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the far corners of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Classic Games

Much like the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the previous film.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow

The film will welcome back of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

A Significant Period for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive close to the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his friends.

Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
