The forward has registered five finishes in ten domestic competition appearances during the current campaign.

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr has expressed regret to supporters for his conduct when replaced in Sunday's fiery match against Barcelona win.

Vinicius was substituted in the 72nd minute and showed his annoyance by going straight down the tunnel.

He eventually reappeared to the sidelines and, after his side's 2-1 victory, attempted to approach Barça's Lamine Yamal during unpleasant after the game scenes.

"Now I want to say sorry to all the Madridistas for my behavior when I was replaced in the Clasico," Vinicius wrote on X.

"Just as I have previously expressed during the latest practice, I wish to express regret anew to my colleagues, the club, and the leadership.

"At times emotion takes over me because I constantly desire to succeed and assist my team. My competitive character comes from the love I hold for this institution and each thing it stands for."

Vinicius joined Real from Flamengo in recent years for £38.7m and has accumulated over a century of strikes in more than 300 games.

But his future in the La Liga is unclear with speculation in recent months stating that the club would consider permitting the player move on if they obtained a good proposal.

When he was substituted on that day, broadcast footage from broadcaster the platform recorded him stating: "Again me! I'm exiting the club! It's preferable if I depart, I'm moving on."

In his new statement on X, Vinicius stated: "I promise to keep fighting constantly for the welfare of Los Blancos, as I have done since the very beginning."
