Clair Obscur Triumphs at the 2025 Gaming Honors
The forty-third yearly Golden Joystick Awards were hosted this past week, and with a remarkable show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the top winner. The standout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive earned the esteemed Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Superb Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Enhancing the studio's success, the gifted performers also garnered individual awards. Jennifer English won Best Lead Performer for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Actor for his role as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive the studio was named Top Studio. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its developers achieved 7 awards throughout the ceremony.
Additional notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which won Best Audio Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Best PC Game. It is important to note, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the gamers, with only four awards—Critics’ Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamers’ Choice—judged by experts.
